It’s Thursday(just under the wire, I know), which means it’s time for a new Mortals, Take Cover!  Let’s check out what the big Two have for us this week!

10. House of Mystery #31

There’s a lot going on on this cover, and I don’t really get it, but it catches my eye and makes me drawn to the book.  Good design at work here.

9. Captain America: Man out of Time #1

This cover has just about everything a Cap fan could want, from the original World War II reference to the Avengers.

8. Iron Man/Thor #1

It’s simple, it has Iron Man, it has Thor.  That’s all it needs to tell you what to expect from the book and that’s all I can ask.

7. Warriors Three #1

Again, it’s simple.  If you don’t know who the Warriors Three are, this cover might get you interested enough to find out.

6. Batman and Robin #16

Two Batmen?!  Also, Damien looks pretty awesome.

5. Superboy #1

More simplicity here, almost to the point of minimalism.  Eye-catching and fantastic.

4. Freedom Fighters #3

Again, simple to the point of minimalism, but with an element of danger thrown in to spice up the image.  Good design work and layout of the written elements.  Even barcode placement doesn’t obstruct things.

3. iZombie #7

A really playful cover, especially considering the subject matter.

2. Taskmaster #3

A concept too outrageous, yet well executed, to keep off the list.  I really want to know what goes on in this one just for the cover.

1. Strange Tales II #2

Strange tales is an idea so perfect that I can’t believe it hasn’t been done yet, and this book capture the spirit of the title perfectly, also working to catch the eye and maybe draw new readers.

And that’s it for this week.  Did I miss something fantastic?  Let me know in the comments or on my Twitter feed!
