Every Thursday I take the time to go through comic’s latest releases(usually from the big two) and pick and choose the best covers, in a segment I like to call Mortals, Take Cover!  Let’s see what the comic publishers have for us today:

10. Wonder Woman #603

Oh man, the jacket’s off!  Better watch out!  Yes, I picked this one specifically so I could make fun of that stupid jacket.

9. Frankencastle #21

This cover’s just a little bit too busy, and I have to admit, I don’t really like how Frank looks, but at least it’s interestingly busy.  Also, Man-Thing!

8. Justice Society of America #43

An interesting concept at work here, it gets relegated to this spot on the list because of the Dark Things mention.

7. Action Comics #893

Lex Luthor and Gorilla Grodd!  What else needs to be said for this to make the list?

6. Powers #6

A simple cover, and you all know I love simplicity, and I also love the use of the negative space here.

5. Valkyrie #1

Nothing more than an image of the title character, but it’s rare to see a cover with a woman on it that doesn’t look exploitative.

4. First Wave #4

In a time when most comics on the stands have dark covers, a cover this bright stands out and grabs your attention.  Solid work.

3. Atlas #5

A dynamic Atlas cover, although the banner may be a little too much.  Seeing this makes me sad that I didn’t get the series and that it’s being cancelled now.

2. Batman: The Brave and the Bold #21

Batman and Green Lantern, an action-y cover that looks like the show, it’s perfect to catch the eyes of a younger audience.

1. Captain America #610

A beautiful painted cover of Cap and Zemo, and I absolutely love how the shield overlaps the Heroic Age banner.  A+
